Moving the Masters

Many of you have had occasion to visit the Grand Lodge office. You may remember that the photographs of PGMs lined both sides of the hallway of the Minnesota Masonic Charities (MMC) offices, and were spilling around the corner. No more! The hallway has been updated with beautiful full-color photos of MMC functions and celebrations from the last several years. If you think about it, the changes makes sense. What better way to show visitors what MMC does in Minnesota?
Where, then, are the portraits of the Past Grand Masters? Think logically …doesn’t it make sense that they be near the Lodge Room named for our first Grand Master os Masons in Minnesota? The new home commemorating these leaders of Minnesota Masonry is in the lounge just outside of the Alfred Elisha Ames Lodge Room. Funding for the project was provided by the Col. James B. Ladd Fund administered by the Grand Lodge of Minnesota.
The project and resulting move of the PGM portraits was completed at the end of December 2019 by Art Partners Group of St. Louis Park (see photo). It took the installers two days, ensuring that all was level, plumb and square.
The names of the Past Grand Masters may be familiar to Minnesota Masons, but what each looked like may not be familiar. The Lodge Room is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 12 to 5 p.m. and Sunday 12 to 3 p.m. When you have a chance, please come and view the display!
